The Simple Newsletter is coming soon
Because you can never have enough email
Hello, my name is Professor Ian Walker. If by some chance you have encountered me before then it'll probably be as the motonormativity researcher, as the guy who complains about electric cars, as the person whose tweet about high-pressure showers using less water got over 8m hits in one day on Twitter* or, if you've got a really long memory, as the person who did a set of studies about 20 years ago to see what affects drivers' overtaking of cyclists. This involved spending several weeks cycling around while wearing a wig.

The Simple Newsletter is a new venture. I will be sharing observations, speculations and interesting links from the areas in which I work – sustainable transport, environmental psychology and urbanism. People find this stuff interesting, so I want to do my small part to make it easier to access. This stuff is also important, as rethinking how we live and, especially, how we get from one place to another might just be what saves us.
Don't expect the same rigour you'd find in my published work - this is a rapid turnaround place for thinking aloud and sharing things that have recently excited me. I'll be writing quickly, and I'll get things wrong sometimes. I hope it goes without saying that nothing here represents the views of my employer or other organisations with which I am affiliated.
The Simple Newsletter will be up and running very shortly, but in the meantime you can subscribe so you can be sure to receive emails whenever new content is published.
